Jasmine is a climbing shrub belonging to the Oleaceae family. Native to Asia and widely cultivated in India and Egypt, it has been treasured for centuries for the richness of its fragrance.

Alongside the rose, the white jasmine flower is regarded as one of the great queens of perfumery, playing a central role in many of the world's most iconic fragrances.

Often referred to as the Pearl of the Orient, its name derives from the Arabic Yāsamīn, itself borrowed from Persian, reflecting the flower's deep historical and cultural ties to the East.
