The fig is the fruit of the fig tree (Ficus carica), a species native to the Mediterranean Basin and Western Asia. Cultivated since antiquity, it is one of the oldest domesticated fruit trees, having been valued by the ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman civilizations.

In perfumery, the fig note is inspired by both the fruit and its foliage. It combines green and milky facets with subtly sweet and slightly bitter nuances, complemented by fruity notes reminiscent of ripe, juicy flesh. Woody and dry undertones evoke the bark and branches of the fig tree, creating a rich and natural olfactory profile. As this scent is not typically obtained through direct extraction, it is generally recreated using synthetic aroma molecules. It is widely appreciated for bringing a warm, sunlit Mediterranean character and a natural elegance to modern fragrance compositions.
