Apricots are used in cooking and dried for medicinal purposes in China, where they are recommended to treat anemia and throat issues. The almond contained in its pit is distilled to produce a very gentle essential oil.
Often used in perfumery, the distinctive sweet scent of apricot is typically reproduced through a synthetic substitute.
